Meet the Team

Harry Portch – Business Director

Harry was born in Reading and has lived in the area ever since. After completing his education, Harry decided to spend 3 months in Uganda working at an orphanage called Sonrise.

When Harry arrived back in England he started an internship in a top London PR firm but soon decided people is where his passion lies and chose to embark on a career in recruitment.

Having worked in Recruitment for a number of years now Harry has vital experience in dealing with clients from both the public and private sectors and is committed to finding his clients the very best talent.

When Harry is not working he spends time catching up with the friends he worked with at the orphanage and regularly embarks on fundraising activities, specifically aimed at creating better lives for the children in Uganda. On a more local level, he is an avid Reading FC fan and is often found supporting them from the stand!

Jon Abbott - Marketing Executive

Jon is a certified inbound marketer and is currently furthering his knowledge through a Business management and marketing degree at The Nottingham Business School.

Jon’s passion for marketing arrived during his early teenage years when he created a clothing business. His first experience of marketing was through the design of a website and maintenance of social media accounts. Jon has since gone on to pitch ideas to members of Dragons Den and this entrepreneurial spirit remains a large part of his character.

Away from business, and Inspired by our company’s charitable involvements, Jon is in the early stages of collecting, fixing, and shipping bicycles to Uganda. With the aim of improving the lives of locals in remote areas of Uganda.

Jon is also (unfortunately) a keen supporter of Notts County F.C. and regularly supports the team on Saturdays. He also keeps active playing Golf, Cricket and Table Tennis in rotation.

John Kirkpatrick - Business Development Manager

John was born in Reading and has lived and worked in the area ever since. After completing his education, John began his career with a local firm of Chartered Accountants and subsequently carried on the family tradition by then working with his Father in the family Accountancy Practice.

In the late seventies, John Qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant and eventually purchased the family business before he left to specialise in business advisory and reconstruction including insolvency.

Working for over 50 years advising clients throughout the Thames Valley on all matters relating to compliance and business efficiency.

John has joined HM Staffing as our Business Development Manager. He has a wealth of experience and knowledge of the Thames Valley. John has worked for companies such as Wilkins Kennedy and Pitmans BDB.

John also enjoys Clay pigeon shooting, sailing and fly fishing when not working.

Jacob Andrews - Administration Assistant

Jacob is gaining valuable real world experience at HM Staffing during his industrial placement.

Academically gifted with a strong work ethic he is a Level 3 Business Studies student at Henley College well on his way to earning a triple distinction.

Sparky, bright and enthusiastic but with a real love for detail too, Jacob is looking to start an accountancy apprenticeship once he leaves college – if we ever let him leave HM of course!

His placement with HM has given him a new understanding of just how relationship driven the business environment is; experience that no college course can really teach.

When he’s not buried in books Jacob buries himself in endless Nando’s even more enthusiastically than he thrashes the classical guitar he’s teaching himself to play.

Since joining HM Jacob has progressed personally and professionally and definitely lights up the office!

Isaac Was- Consultant

After experience at other recruiters Isaac joined HM Staffing because of its personal, friendly approach towards candidates. He sees the business as one that invests in people for now and the future.

He takes a particular interest in graduates and undergraduates, finding they relate to him and his understanding of their needs to find careers that are as fulfilling as they are rewarding.

Ambitious to help the business grow Isaac brings a ferocious work ethic alongside his natural wit, which always keeps the office on its toes.

Since joining HM Isaac has found a real passion for hiring great talent especially temporary staff. Since excelling in this senior management appointed Isaac as head of temporary recrutiemnt.

A keen traveller, he has made it a goal to visit every town in the country!
